Patient Information
Today in the field of behavioral health drug selection and doses are often trial and error. Clinicians currently prescribe drugs based on standards of care and their own experience. There are many drugs from which to choose and individual patients have highly variable responses. Doses are started at low levels initially to avoid adverse events and are increased slowly until a result is observed. This approach, driven by the need to avoid adverse events, lengthens the time that patients continue to experience disease symptoms.
